Review: ColorBurst Lipstick in Petal and Peach

Claim: "Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick has a formula that feels weightless on the lips. It includes innovative pigments that delivers high impact colour in one swipe. The elasticolour formulation is designed to distribute rich colour pigments evenly over the lips and allows for a comfortable feel. The formula is also enriched with moisturisers and antioxidants such as sweet almond oil to improve lip texture and prevent drying." (from www.beautyheaven.com.au)

Packaging: Love, Love, Love. It's gorgeous. The quilted pattern, the tops (showing quite an accurate representation of the colour) and the way REVLON is embossed on the lpstick itself, reminds me of high-end packaging.

Formula: They are smooth and easy to apply. The colour payoff is actually quite sheer, so to get good coverage you need to really build it up and if you have more pigmented lips then your lip colour will definitely show through. Even with my medium pigmented lips, my natural lip colour shows through.

While application is nice, wearing this lipstick isn't if your lips are sensitive and tend to flake, like mine. If you're prone to flaking you'll see it flake after about 1.5-2 hours. So either exfoliate your lips or wear a lip balm underneath. Now, because it is such a sheer formula DAB a small amount of your favourite lip balm on your lips otherwise you'll get little to no colour payoff.

Longevity: About 3-3.5 hours.

Scent: No scent

Colour:
Petal - light pink with silver shimmer, with a little bit of a frost finish
Peach - medium peach (it is definitely my favourite of the 2)
Note: They both give off a nice sheen so you can wear a lipgloss over them but I don't find it necessary.

Natural Lip Colour

096 Petal
075 Peach

Overall thoughts: I really do like these lipsticks. I think they are great everyday lip colours. I especially love the peach but that's just because I'm peach tone obsessed, no seriously I am. I have everything from blushes to eyeshadows and lipstick but I digress. I like that even though they're sheer I can build the colour without it looking horrible. But I wish they were a bit more long wearing.

Pros:
- Gorgeous colour selection
- Packaging
- Colour payoff (depending on what you like this can be a con, but I personally like that I can have it darker or more sheer)

Cons:
- Expensive (all Revlon products are)
- Longevity
- It peels on me if I don't wear a lip balm underneath

Where and how much? Anywhere Revlon is sold (Kmart, Target, Priceline, BigW etc) $23.95 (just wait till they are on sale)

Review: UBU Shady Lady Eyeshadow Brush (No. 30)

Claim: "All eyes on you baby. Love your lids with this short synthetic bristle brush perfectly molded to your eye shape."

If you want a brush to apply eyeshadow all over the lid then this is NOT the brush for that.

There are a few reasons why it's a bad all over the eye lid brush.
1) Bristles are not flexible
2) Bristles are too firm
3) Bristles from the base are fairly thick but as it tapers to the top it becomes too thin therefore not enough eyeshadow can get onto the brush to actually be applied smoothly all over the lid.

However, this brush is really good for applying eyeshadow on the lower lash line. So if your looking to set your eyeliner with eyeshadow this is a handy tool. It is the right amount of thickness and firmness to apply eyeshadow on the lash line.

Cons:
- Doesn't do what it claims

Pros:
- Great for lower lash line
- Cheap
- PURPLE

Rating: 2.5

Where and how much: K-mart - $6.00

Review: Essence Quick Dry Top Coat

Image: Essence Quick Dry Top Coat

Claims: "Extremely fast drying top coat. Protects your nail polish against chipping"

How long would you expect a "quick dry" top coat to dry, 60 seconds maybe 2 minutes? Well don't expect too much from this top coat. Every time I've used this top coat I've had problems with my nail polish smudging or sheet lines when I wake up.

The top coat does dry fairly quickly however the nail polish remains soft and smudges if your not careful. I tried it a few times but the last time I tried it I left it for an hour and a half to fully set and without doing anything that would ruin the polish before going to sleep but when I woke up my nail polish had sheet marks. All I can say is disappointing.

Yes it is a cheap product but from essence I expected a lot better. I've used a few essence products but this was the WORST.

In terms of protection from chipping I don't believe it makes much of a different. My test for this was rimm…

Review: Optiva Aqua-Capture Serum and Nourishing Night Cream

So firstly my skin type is dry/normal. I'm prone to hormonal breakouts. Every time I get a pimple it scars whether or not I've popped it (gross I know). So my main issue are my scars. But like I mentioned I do have somewhat dry skin and I really do feel like these have helped with my dry patches and preventing my skin from flaking.

1. Optiva Aqua-Capture Serum
30ml $24

"This super concentrated skin hydrating serum has a light formulation, which is easy to apply and works deep into the skin. The serum strengthens the skin barrier in just two weeks improving its tolerance for the long term. Specially formulated to offer an immediate comforting and calming effect. Apply after cleansing and before moisturising both morning and night. Clinically proven to reveal healthier skin in just two weeks."

Overall I think this is a really nice serum, but honestly I'm not really a serum girl and this product hasn't converted me. I feel like it's an unnecessary step. But if…
